This course is aimed at training lower level functionaries in the area of hearing, language and speech. The course is designed as a comprehensive and practical oriented programme. The main objective of the course is to generate Speech and Hearing Technicians to take up routine clinical work of assessment and therapeutic management for various speech, language and hearing disorders at village, block/taluka and town levels. The term speech therapy means to apply therapy on the individuals suffering from speech disorders. Speech therapy is an associated branch of health sciences which is related to the disorder of voice, speech & language of a person. In recent times, speech therapy & audiology have become promising career options. Speech therapists are the specialists who treats people facing problems related to speech disorders. They helps the people having speech and language problems and who are lacking in fluency. Speech therapists are also called as speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and speech pathologists.
Eligibility
Students can take admission in bachelor courses after clearing higher secondary examination in PCB group from a well-recognized educational board with 55% marks. To purse postgraduate programme, one must have passed the bachelor degree in the related field.

Career & Jobs
- Work as Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists in various hospital set up, super specialty clinics such as Neurology/ENT/Paediatric/Oncology clinics and Rehabilitation centers
- Students also have opportunities to work as industrial audiologist, audiologist in hearing aid and cochlear implant industries, and also opt for serving in private clinics. Few opportunities were also given in the Defence Systems as an Audiologist
- Students may also work at the level of faculty positions and research scholars in various Institutions/Universities
- Students have good opportunities to pursue their higher education in international universities. Majority of them are under Scholarship Schemes
- Most of the students from India are given placements as Swallowing Therapists in Dysphagia rehabilitation centers, Speech Language Pathologists in normal and special schools, Stroke Rehabilitation and Dementia Clinics in USA.
